In the movie "Field of Dreams" The narrator has a name Ray. Ray was not from Iowa but from Chicago, and moved to Iowa for college where he met his wife Annie. In the short story Ray did move to Iowa from Chicago, but did not meet his wife Annie in college but through his house owner. In the short story the whole story is told by Ray. In the movie it is mainly told by Ray, but also by Everyone else. Terrance Man, a writer in the book is one of the lead roles in the movie and is a key part of the point of view. You see a lot and hear a lot of what Man, and Ray have to Say.
The plot of the story is to help getting baseball players a second chance to play the game they love in the after life. What Ray does no know is that it gives him a chance to play catch with his father again. The last time Ray and his father talked was an argument about Ray going to Iowa. Ray was never able to forgive himself until he got a chance to play catch with his dad. In the short story Ray and his father were very close and didn't have a fight. Ray also knew that his father would be coming to play baseball on the field that Ray was making because he asked Shoeless Joe Jackson to bring his father so that he could play catcher again.
The setting of the movie is mostly the same as that of the story. For most of the movie Ray is an Iowa, but later leaves to New York to find Terrance Man. Terrance Man is a famous writer in the book that Ray seems to be interested in. Man seems to not believe in what Ray is saying until Man hears the voice as well, telling them to go the distance. The setting is different in the short story because Ray never leaves for New York, and it always is in Iowa. Also in Iowa it never talks about how the farm is almost pointless now since Ray has made a baseball field, and has taken up half of the crop that use to be there.
Characterization is not a huge factor in the movie as it was in the short story. In the story it explains everyone as in the movie only Ray is really explained about. Ray was from Chicago, and moved to Iowa for college where he met his wife Annie, fell in love became a farmer, and then had a child named Karen. Ray then started to farm since Annie wanted him to, In story Ray is a little different, he is not as old as he is in the movie and neither is Annie, and Karen is only a few months old, as in the story she is about six or seven.
I believe that the theme of the movie is second chances. Ray is given a second chance to play the game of baseball with his dad. This was both Ray's and his fathers past time. Each of them loved this sport, and for Ray to be given the chance to see, and play catch with his dad after the argument was very powerful, and good for them. Terrance Man who was not in the story, gets a second chance at loving the game of baseball that he forgot about years and years ago.
In the story you never hear Ray's name. In the movie Ray has to sell his farm because they do not have the money to pay the bills and the bank wants to shut them down. In the story Ray is about Twenty three, and has a baby girl. In the movie Ray is about thirty and has a daughter that is six or seven. In the movie Ray also does not pay that much attention to left field as he does in the story.

Shoeless Joe Jackson comes to Iowa.
The plot of Shoeless Joe Jackson comes to Iowa, is that a farmer is thinking about building a baseball field. The man was a baseball fan just as his farther, and loved to watch the game very much. One night in the summer the man hears a voice similar to an announcer saying if you build it he will come." f you build it he will come" page 1. The man is confused by this and does not know what the voice means.. The man builds the baseball field, and Shoeless Joe Jackson comes to his farm to play baseball.
The point f view is first person. and many times it is only the narrator, the main character speaking. The narrator never reveals his name, and talks about his wife Annie, and his daughter Karin. Annie talks once as well but it is only in first person. Throughout the the story, it seems as if you are in the mind of the narrator. You never hear the thoughts of anyone else except from his wife Karen." Oh love if it makes you happy you should do it" page 2 Annie.
Characterization appears mainly for Shoeless Joe Jackson, explaining in the very beginning that he was wearing shoes, and was fifty-five ponds heavier. You never find out how the narrator or what his family really look like except that his wife has blond hair, and freckles on her face. " a million freckles on her face and arms, that girl who lives in blue jeans and shirts" page 3 narrator.
The setting takes place in the state of Iowa. Iowa is a very country state. Iowa is known for the Iowa Hawk eyes, and for football. Iowa is also known for farming. " Thousands of people every week go and watch the hawk eyes play football. while thirty watch the baseball team" Narrator. By that quote it shows that many people in Iowa do not care about the baseball team, and mainly care to watch the football games. The farming in Iowa could be apart of this since many wont work on Saturdays or Sundays.
I believe that the theme is that you need to work hard in life, but also not forget about you loved ones and hero's.The narrator forgot about his hero, and forgot about his father. It is through the baseball field that he is reunited with them, and gets a second chance to see, and be with his father. Many people grow up to soon and forget about their hero's, and forget about loved ones sometimes. People need to take time slowly and enjoy what the have left with friends and family.

Shakespearean Sonnet
In Sonnet 130, the message is about love. The man in the poem, was about a man who is in love with his mistress, but he is not attractive with her. " My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun; Coral is far more red than her lips' red;" This quote states that the man is not attractive to his mistress. Her eyes are not beautiful, and she shows no red on her lips. The man struggles with this throughout the sonnet. He believes that she is an ugly woman, and has noting good about her body. Many people believe that a couple needs to be attractive to each other to be happy. " I love to hear her speak, yet well I know That music hath a far more pleasing sound; " In this line the man states that he is in love with her singing talent, and her personality. This is what causes him to fall in love her.
I do believe that this message is true. People are not always attractive to each other. If you truly love someone then it is meant to be. Love is very powerful, and people know that when they are in love. looks are the least that matter. In a book I read. A man born a half god, and son of Zeus, fell in love with a woman that was not of his level. She was an average woman that had nothing that a son of Zeus would want. The man still loved her though the woman never believed that it was possible. After a month the couple realized that looks didn't matter, and that they loved each other. Love is stronger then anything on earth, love has no bounds, and nothing can stop it.

Song
A song that really hit me that talks about love, and going through hard times and bouncing back from this Right Here by Staind. The song is about having a loved one and protecting them and always wacthing out for them. People always very protective of loved ones, and sometimgs to protective, and can cause you to loose the person. This song talks about finghting to get them back and making sure that you never making them go away again. This is a possible thing for many teenagers because men are proctective over there girl friends and little sisters.

Heros
A super hero that I have always been a fan of from all the movies and the t.v. shows when I was little was Spider-man. A think a moment that made him a hero was in the second movie Peter Parker decides that he wants a normal life. When Doc. Oct takes Mary Jane Peter realizes that the world needs Spider- man before him. The world always needs a hero to rest on, to go to when in trouble.
A personal hero of mine is my cousin Jimmy O'Connor. Jimmy was sent to Iraq in 2006 and was fighting for us, Many people join the arm forces. Jimmy was one of them. He saved about fifth teen of his men in battle one day. Alive grenade was thrown over in there position. Jimmy grabbed it and was able to throw it back at the enemy who attacked them, when they were there to help the civilians with medical care.
A hero that everyone knows but has not have the chance to meet was Abraham Lincoln. He was able to stop slavery, and free all the African Americans. For if it was not for him people who only had a different colored skin would be slaves for no reason. Slaves were forced to do the labor that White Americans struggled to do. That is why slave were used. Lincoln brought all of this to a end and brought our country back together.
